COVID-19 Testing: What You Need to Know

When you get tested:

Make sure to test at the right time
Choose the right type of test for your circumstance
Follow test directions as recommended by FDA

When to Get Tested for COVID-19

Key times to get tested:

If you have symptoms, test immediately.
If you were exposed to COVID-19 and do not have symptoms, wait at least 5 full days after your exposure before testing. If you test too early, you may be more likely to get an inaccurate result.
If you are in certain high-risk settings, you may need to test as part of a screening testing program.
Consider testing before contact with someone at high risk for severe COVID-19, especially if you are in an area with a medium or high COVID-19 Community Level.

Remember, every U.S. household is again eligible to order four rapid tests that will be mailed for free from the federal government. Americans are urged to use the tests when they have symptoms, before and after travel, and before visiting indoors with vulnerable people.

VNA Offering Walk-In Vaccination/Booster Clinics

The VNA is hosting walk in COVID-19 vaccination clinics for primary series and bivalent booster doses, including pediatric bivalent boosters, at its clinic at 660 Iowa Street in Dubuque. Appointments are not required.

Clinics are scheduled for:

Friday, Jan. 6, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Monday, Jan. 9, 3 - 6 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 13, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 20, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 27, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Monday, Jan. 30, 3 - 6 p.m.
