Phase 1b Tier 1 Vaccinations Under Way in Dubuque County

Vaccinations of people age 65 and over (Phase 1b) as well as designated high-risk populations (Phase 1b Tier 1) have begun in Dubuque County.

Some local healthcare providers have begun notifying and administering COVID-19 vaccines to a limited number of patients age 65 and older who are now eligible to receive the vaccine. These initial appointment-only vaccinations are being conducted at local clinics based on the limited supply of vaccines currently available. Patients are being contacted directly by their healthcare provider by telephone, email, or text message to schedule their vaccine appointments.

Phase 1b Tier 1 includes first responders (e.g., firefighters, police officers, and child welfare social workers) and PK-12 staff, early childhood education, childcare workers. First responders began receiving vaccinations this week and the majority of Dubuque County's allocation of doses for next week will go to PK-12 staff.

Vaccines Available at Select Walgreens and CVS Locations for Iowans Age 65 and Older

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), in partnership with Walgreens and CVS today announced the availability of COVID-19 vaccine for approximately 32,000 Iowans age 65 and older.

Unused vaccines which were originally allocated to the Long-Term Care Pharmacy Partnership Program have been redistributed to a limited number of Walgreens and CVS stores in select Iowa counties and reserved for Iowans age 65 and older. This is a one-time, additional allocation of vaccine.

Iowans age 65 and older can register online for a vaccine appointment at a participating Walgreens or CVS location near them. Appointments are limited to the number of vaccines available at each location. If you are not able to secure one of these vaccine appointments, be assured that more vaccines are coming to the state on a weekly basis.
