Keep Up the Good Work, Dubuque County!
It has been over two weeks since Thanksgiving and Dubuque County has not experienced a major spike in new COVID-19 cases. This indicates that many of you are doing your part to limit the spread, like wearing a mask around others not in your household, social distancing, washing your hands frequently, and limiting holiday gatherings and travel. Thank you!
While this is good news and we are receiving positive news about vaccine development and approval, we must all stay vigilant and continue doing these things. Our hospitals and health care workers are still under considerable strain. We continue to see new cases and too many deaths from COVID-19. In fact, the 3,124 COVID-19 deaths nationally reported on Wednesday of this week is the highest single-day death total in the country since the beginning of the pandemic and surpasses the death tolls from the 9/11 and Pearl Harbor attacks.
Until widespread vaccination of the general public is completed, we must continue to make personal sacrifices for ourselves, our friends and family, and the greater good.
Please mask up and do not let your guard down. There's light at the end of the tunnel!
