Task Force: We Need to Protect Those We are Thankful for in Our Families and Communities

The latest report from the White House Coronavirus Task Force lists Iowa in the red zone for cases, indicating 101 or more new cases per 100,000 population, with the 5th highest rate in the country. Iowa is also in the red zone for test positivity, indicating a rate at or above 10.1%, with the 3rd highest rate in the country.

"We need to protect those we are thankful for in our families and communities. Ensure indoor masking around vulnerable family members during any gatherings due to the significant amount of virus."

  • Dubuque County: 106 new cases. Total confirmed cases to date = 8,925
  • Iowa: 3,345 new cases. Total confirmed cases to date = 218,957

  • Dubuque County: 3,380 active cases (9 fewer than yesterday)

DEATHS

  • Dubuque County: No additional deaths. Total deaths to date = 90
  • Iowa: 47* additional deaths. Total deaths to date = 2,271

HOSPITALIZATIONS

  • Dubuque County Residents Hospitalized =  59 as of Nov. 23. (1 less than Nov. 22.)
  • Iowans Currently hospitalized = 1,305 (46 fewer than yesterday.) 

RECOVERIES 

  • Dubuque County: New recoveries = 115. Total number of recoveries = 5,455
  • Iowa: New recoveries = 2,373. Total number of recoveries = 122,057

LONG-TERM CARE FACILITY OUTBREAKS


Dubuque County:  6 long-term care facility outbreaks (same as yesterday) with 127 positive cases (1 more than yesterday), 16 new positive cases in the last 14 days, and 64 recoveries (5 more than yesterday):

  • Bethany Home, Dubuque (3 positive cases, 3 in the last 14 days, and 0 recoveries)
  • Dubuque Specialty Care, Dubuque (7 positive cases, 0 in the last 14 days, and 3 recoveries)
  • Luther Manor Communities, Dubuque (82 positive cases, 0 new positive cases in the last 14 days, and 48 recoveries)
  • Hawkeye Care Center, Dubuque(4 positive cases, 4 in the last 14 days, and 0 recoveries)
  • ManorCare Health Services, Dubuque (15 positive cases, 2 new positive cases in the last 14 days, and 6 recoveries)
  • Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade (16 positive cases, 7 new positive cases in the last 14 days, and 7 recoveries) 

Iowa: 149* outbreaks (6 more than yesterday) with 4,604 positive cases, 1,899 recoveries, and 1,023 deaths to date.

TESTING & POSITIVITY RATE (Calculated by IDPH)

Dubuque County:

  • 262 more individuals tested. Total residents tested to date = 43,375
  • Test Positivity Rate: 14-day average = 18.3%, average to date = 20.6%.

Iowa:

  • 12,552 more individuals tested. Total Iowa residents tested to date = 1,185,890
  • Test Positivity Rate: 14-day average = 19.1%, average to date = 18.5%
