Monday, March 23, Update
Two More Cases Confirmed in Dubuque County
The Iowa Department of Health (IDPH) has been notified of 15 additional positive cases of Iowans with COVID-19, including two in Dubuque County (one adult 18-40 years old and one older adult 61-80 years old). This brings Iowa’s total to 105 positive cases and Dubuque County’s to six. There have been a total of 2,043 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs. For more information on testing results, visit https://idph.iowa.gov/Emerging-Health-Issues/Novel-Coronavirus
Additional Testing
More testing is becoming available each day through the State Hygienic Laboratory (SHL) and through private labs. Your health care provider will make the determination on whether you need a test, and they can consult with public health if they have questions. Testing guidance is available at http://shl.uiowa.edu/dcd/covid19.xml
Governor and IDPH Recommend Self-Isolation for Those who Traveled Out of State
Iowans who have traveled recently for business or spring break vacations, whether internationally or domestically outside of Iowa, should strongly consider self-isolating for 14 days. This will support Iowa’s ongoing efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, and limit the introduction of the virus from other points of travel.
Notification of Exposure to Positive COVID-19 Residents
The Dubuque Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) public health nurses are working with the IDPH and will contact individuals that need to be notified regarding COVID-19 exposure. While the public is welcome to call the VNA at 563.556.6200 for general COVID-19 information, please DO NOT contact VNA if “you think you were exposed, or you were potentially exposed.” Doing so overwhelms their ability to respond directly to the people that have had true exposure as defined by the IDPH.
Governor Announces New Temporary Closures
The Governor has ordered all of Iowa’s hair salons, barbershops, medical spas, massage therapists, tattoo shops and swimming pools to close until March 31.
Property Foreclosures Suspended
The Governor has also suspended foreclosures on residential, commercial and agriculture properties.
