Community Exposure & Transmission

As more positive cases of COVID-19 are confirmed in Dubuque County and elsewhere, community exposure to the virus is increasing, as is transmission risk from infected people without symptoms (asymptomatic) or before the onset of recognized symptoms (presymptomatic).

If you have had close contact (less than six feet for 15 minutes or more) to someone with symptoms or someone who tested positive, the CDC recommends these precautions:

• Stay home until 14 days after last exposure and maintain social distance (at least 6 feet) from others at all times
• Self-monitor for symptoms
• Check temperature twice a day
• Watch for fever, cough, or shortness of breath, or other symptoms of COVID-19
• Avoid contact with people at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19
• If you develop symptoms, contact your primary healthcare provider.

New Test Iowa Site Added for Saturday Morning Testing

Crescent Community Health Center (Crescent) will partner with Epic Health and Wellness for a Test Iowa site on Saturday, July 11, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Participants are required to take the Test Iowa assessment (www.testiowa.com) and must bring their code to the site. The site will only be open for four hours.

The testing site will be located in the Crescent parking lot located at 1690 Elm Street, Dubuque, Iowa, 52001, between the Crescent building and Eagle Country Market. Please do not park in the Eagle Country Market parking lot or block traffic.

This will be a drive-up site, you should stay in your vehicle with your valid Test Iowa code – one code per person. If you do not have a code, you will not be tested. There will also be a walk-up site, please also have your code readily available.

Do not call Crescent about this event. If you have your TestIowa code, please bring it with you to be tested. You do not need to call in advance.

Enter the testing site by heading east on 19th Street and then behind the Eagle Country Market to the test site. Please drive safely and follow signage or instructions from traffic assistants.

Any Iowan who would like to be tested for COVID-19 at this location must first complete the Test Iowa assessment at www.testiowa.com. They will then be provided an identification number, which is required to be tested. To take an assessment or request a test, visit www.testiowa.com.

Residents without internet access or who need assistance completing the assessment should contact the Dubuque Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) for assistance at 563.556.6200.

Record 72 New Cases in Dubuque County, 734 New Cases and 6 Deaths in Iowa

Positive Cases
Between 2 p.m. yesterday and 2 p.m. today, the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 72 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Dubuque County, increasing the county total to 829. For the state, 734 additional cases were reported in that same time frame giving Iowa a total of 33,155 positive cases.

Deaths
No additional deaths were reported in Dubuque County so the county total remains at 22. Six additional deaths were reported statewide, increasing the state death total to 739.

Testing
As of 2 p.m. today, the IDPH website reported that 14,069 Dubuque County residents have been tested, up 1,013 from yesterday, with an overall positive test rate of 5.9 percent. 354,237 Iowans have been tested, an increase of 8,623 since yesterday, for a positive test rate of 9.4 percent. One in seven Dubuque County residents have been tested and one in nine Iowa residents have been tested.

Hospitalizations & Recoveries
As of today, 168 Iowans were hospitalized due to COVID-19, three more than yesterday. The number of Dubuque County residents reported hospitalized is eight, the same as reported yesterday.

Statewide, 26,313 Iowans have recovered (up 371 from yesterday), including 446 Dubuque County residents (11 more than yesterday).

 Long-Term Care Facility Outbreaks
According to the IDPH, as of 2 p.m. today there are 17 long-term care facilities in Iowa with COVID-19 outbreaks, one less than yesterday. There are no long-term care facility outbreaks in Dubuque County.
